What it covers.

The full OMPT-A core, then two heavier chapters on top — roughly two-thirds algebra & calculus base, one-third the new trig & integration material, by syllabus topic count.

Trigonometry and integration are where most OMPT-A-ready candidates lose the test. They're new, they're long, and they're the whole reason OMPT-B exists. Treat them as the main event. Topic counts are illustrative of relative weight; the exact split of the 64 questions isn't published.

Who takes it.

OMPT-B is typically the maths-intensive variant — but mappings change yearly, so always confirm which test your programme asks for.

Engineering
Applied engineering & IT
e.g. Arcada (FI) — IB / IT / Mechanical Eng. often map to OMPT-B
Econometrics
University of Groningen
OMPT-B accepted for Econometrics & Operations Research
Natural sciences
Technical universities
e.g. LUT (FI), KTU (LT) — B/D for technical tracks
A / B / D / E
VU Amsterdam, Radboud
list OMPT-B among several variants by programme
Important: some maths-intensive programmes ask for OMPT-D (advanced calculus) rather than B, and some computer-science tracks sit between the two. Don't assume — check your programme's admission page, and compare the variants if you're unsure.

Universities that ask for OMPT-B.

From the university pages in our directory. Few programmes name OMPT-B publicly — always confirm on your programme's admission page.

STEM programmes lean towards OMPT-B or OMPT-D — no single public mapping
These are the only universities in our directory that publicly associate a programme with OMPT-B. If your admission page names OMPT-B, that letter is your source of truth; if you're unsure which variant you need, compare all OMPT variants →

The real exam doesn't forgive.

A single official OMPT-B attempt costs €240 — and you usually get only one or two. Failing is expensive, and can cost you an admission deadline.

The test is remotely proctored via ProctorU (webcam, mic, photo ID, room scan) and must be booked ≥72 hours ahead. Your own calculator is not allowed — only a basic on-screen one. The honest takeaway: prepare thoroughly before you book, because a failed €240 attempt is real money and a real deadline at risk.

How to prepare with OMPT Trainer.

1

Find your weak chapters

Start with a free diagnostic test. You'll get a per-topic breakdown so you know whether it's the algebra core or the new trig & integration that's costing you points.

2

Drill trig & integration to fluency

These two chapters are the whole point of OMPT-B. Practise them with worked solutions and step-by-step hints until identities, derivatives and antiderivatives are automatic — no calculator.

3

Simulate the full 64 / 150

Run timed, full-length mocks with only the basic on-screen calculator. Your pacing on a 150-minute paper matters as much as your maths — flag and move on past anything over ~3 minutes.

Two ways in.

Start with the free test, or go straight to a 3-month pass that covers every OMPT-B topic.

Prepare further.

Before you book the paid OMPT-B, three pages worth your time:

Gauge the challenge first: how difficult is the OMPT in practice? Then look up the minimum OMPT scores for each university — cutoffs differ per programme — and drill your pace under exam timing with a timed OMPT mock exam. It also helps to know whether you can retake OMPT-B and how many attempts your university allows, and to note the 2026 OMPT deadlines and Studielink dates.

FAQ

How long is it, and how many questions?

64 questions in 150 minutes — a little over two minutes each. The syllabus covers around 226 topics, with ~100 hours of prep recommended. It's the most extensive of the OMPT variants.

What's the difference between OMPT-A and OMPT-B?

OMPT-B includes everything in OMPT-A (numbers, algebra, linear & quadratic equations, systems, functions, exponentials & logarithms, differentiation) and adds two heavier chapters: trigonometry and integration. It's the higher, Wiskunde-B-style test, with more questions (64 vs 52) and more time (150 vs 120 min).

Can I use a calculator?

Not your own. A basic digital calculator is provided in the platform; every question is solvable without a graphing calculator. Train that way from day one.

What score do I need to pass?

It depends on your university and programme. Published OMPT cutoffs range from about 55% up to 75% for the most demanding programmes. Always check your programme's admission page.

Who has to take the OMPT-B?

It's typically the maths-intensive variant — engineering, computer science, natural sciences, and some econometrics tracks. But some programmes ask for OMPT-D or another variant instead, so confirm which one yours currently lists. Compare the variants →

How is it proctored, and when do I get results?

Online with live human proctoring via ProctorU (webcam, mic, photo ID, room scan), from home. Book ≥72h ahead. You get a digital certificate with per-topic scores, generally within 8 working days (4 with paid fast grading).

How do I book the official OMPT-B?

On the official omptest.org site, at least 72 hours ahead of your slot. We've written a step-by-step walkthrough: how to book the OMPT →

Is this the official OMPT website?

No. OMPT Trainer is an independent practice resource, not affiliated with SOWISO or the official exam. Book the real test on the official site; train here first.
